EN81-20/50 Lift Buffers
Reliable Impact Protection

EN81-20/50 lift buffers are essential safety devices installed at the bottom of a lift shaft to absorb the impact if a lift car or counterweight travels beyond its normal stopping point. They safely slow and stop the lift in an emergency, acting as a crucial backup when the main braking system fails.

These buffers are specifically designed and tested to meet the strict requirements of EN81-20 (construction and installation rules) and EN81-50 (design and testing rules). They’re suitable for both passenger and freight lifts and must handle a free-falling lift at up to 115% of its rated speed, all while keeping deceleration within safe limits.

Modern EN81-20/50 buffers often feature adjustable heights, come CE marked, and are supplied with full certification. Correct installation and maintenance are vital to ensure long-term safety and compliance.
